Events Edmonton

Events Edmonton is a non-profit charitable association, governed by a volunteer board of directors.  Our permanent, part time and seasonal employees work collectively with over 1,000 volunteers, to bring family-friendly events to our community; showcasing our feature festival, Taste of Edmonton, Canada’s largest outdoor food festival and outdoor concert series.

Taste of Edmonton

Taste of Edmonton has become one of the most highly anticipated summer festivals that is loved by Edmontonians. Our 11 day festival features over 50 local restaurant partners and 9 food trucks who showcase the many delicious culinary delights our incredible city has to offer. While guests enjoy fabulous food they are treated to live music from one of the 30+ talented Canadian musical artists we bring in from around the corner and across the country to perform on our stage.

Many components of Taste of Edmonton are handled by volunteers who bring their energy and joyful spirit to support the festival. Flexible scheduling options are provided to accommodate your availability. And don’t forget the volunteer perks; a festival shirt, Taste of Edmonton tickets, snacks and beverages, Volunteer Appreciation BBQ and an invitation to our Volunteer Appreciation Celebration. Our volunteers are the heart and sole of our organization and we simply would not be successful without them. We know that a truly great volunteer is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget. What do we expect from our volunteers?

As a volunteer for Taste of Edmonton, you’ll be essential to the festival’s success and oftentimes the first point of contact for our guests. To be eligible, you’ll need to agree to a minimum of three shifts. Depending on the position, a shift length is between 3 to 6 hours. You are expected to commit to the schedule and to represent the festival and its organizers in a positive and professional manner at all times. To become equipped with the information that you need to perform your duties, new volunteers are expected to attend an orientation session. The orientation will offer valuable information pertaining to the festival, your specific duties and more.

Taste of Edmonton provides a variety of opportunities for our volunteers. A description of the various jobs available at Taste of Edmonton are listed below. Please note that you are able to select up to three (3) positions on your Volunteer Application form.

If you are a minor and confirmed for volunteering at the festival, you will be asked to have your parent fill out the Minor Consent Form.

Edmonton companies book the Corporate Hosting venue, to welcome their staff and/or clients to a nice get-together. You are signing in guests, assisting with questions, clearing tables and make guests feel welcome. You have excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor. These events take place in the late afternoon and/or in the evening.

Ideal for youth, designated drivers and those who are just not into beer, wine or spirits. We offer our guests a selection of non-alcoholic beverages and your exceptional service skills will be put to use as guests exchange their Taste of Edmonton tickets with you for beverages.

Taste of Edmonton is a festival for the whole family to enjoy! The Kids Centre offers a perfect space for families to kick up their feet and relax in the shade. An outgoing, pro-active and energetic person that loves kids will supervise our Kids Centre, encouraging our young guests to participate in the Kids Centre activities.

Welcome to Taste of Edmonton. Your smiley face is the first that your co-volunteers see when they sign in for their shifts. You will advise them, guide them, feed them, keep the whole volunteer headquarter nice and clean and do a whole lot more. This place fluctuates from being very quiet to suddenly being very busy. That means, you will be required to work under pressure and to be able to switch quickly your speed of action. Good people skills is a must, as you will be working with a large group of people from all different backgrounds.

Responsible and trustworthy; counting, calculating, reconciling, assisting our Ticket Sellers and more are your key tasks in the Count Room. A background check for this position will be conducted. Note that this position requires a minimum of 3 shifts.

Where is my favorite restaurant? When does the band start playing? Where can I buy tickets for the special programs? And a zillion more questions that you will hear throughout your shift. You are a friendly, open and welcoming person that loves to assist our patrons. The Information Tent is also the Lost & Found location.

You are an outgoing and customer service oriented individual who could wear many different hats; conducting a short Taste of Edmonton festival survey, monitoring line ups at the main ticket center or welcoming guests and handing out Taste of Edmonton festival guides. Your smiling face will be the first to meet, greet and welcome guests to Taste of Edmonton.

An outstanding individual who has excellent skills in customer relations, communication and problem solving. You will provide information to patrons regarding ticket prices, operate a POS system to process ticket sales, maintain accuracy in financial transactions; counting, calculating, reconciling and be accountable for all transactions at your workstation. A background check for this position will be conducted. Note that this position requires a minimum of 3 shifts.

The Loading Zone Attendants will ensure the smooth operation of the Loading Zone areas by ensuring that all deliveries are executed in a timely manner; keeping records of all vehicles, accurately tracking date and arrival time on log sheets and ensuring Loading Zone rules are maintained.

You are a friendly, welcoming and reliable individual who will assist with a wide variety of tasks. Become a Taste of Edmonton expert who provides guests with answers to all of their questions and quandaries. Knowledgeable about the festival, its events & schedules, the location of washrooms, ATM machines, bus stops, First Aid and more. You are the point of contact for the Media. Will safeguard and track lost and found items. Monitor “Taste of Edmonton” Ticket Donation box and conduct Taste of Edmonton guest surveys.

Once your application has been approved a confirmation outlining your volunteer date(s), time(s) and position(s) will be sent to you.

Yes, you may be asked to fill out the police record form. You will need to bring two government issued IDs.

  • Drivers Licence, ID card, passport, AB Health Care Card are accepted IDs.
  • SIN, student IDs etc. are NOT accepted.

Events Edmonton may also be contacting a reference that you provide on the application form.

For sure. We even encourage young people to join us. However, if you are between 12 and 14 years old, you will be required to volunteer together with an adult guardian and only in certain areas. If you are between 15 and 17 years old, you will require a written Consent Form from your parent or legal guardian.
